Understanding the Microbiome
At YSOPIA Bioscience, we strongly believe that the gut microbiome – as it plays a crucial role in human health – is the next paradigm-shift in medicine and a tremendous hope for patients.
“The composition of the microbiome and its activities are involved in most, if not all, of the biological processes that constitute human health and disease.” M. J. Blaser in J. Clin. Invest. (2014).
Microbiome is a “hidden organ” which controls our health. Bacteria shape their host and are precious partners, playing a central role in a myriad of essential functions in our body – such as metabolism, digestion, immune and neurological functions – through different pathways.
Our gut microbiome is like a virgin forest: a complex and diverse ecosystem which functions in symbiosis with our body. Our modern life, characterized by unhealthy diet, pollution, stress and chemical exposure, can strongly deteriorate this symbiosis.

At the Root of Chronic Diseases
Chronic diseases are complex and result from a combination of genetic, physiological, environmental and behavioural factors. Despite their complexity, they all share one common feature: an imbalance of microbiome, called dysbiosis, scientifically established as a cause of these diseases.
